MADURAI: Madurai-based IT companies feel that the city should have been included in the state government’s plans to set up Tamil Nadu Tech City (TN Tech City) as it has high growth potential with a big manpower to boot. Chennai, Coimbatore and Hosur were proposed in the state budget for the project to promote Tamil Nadu as a global hub for IT and ITES, and cater to the growing need for office space.

Techies in Madurai point out the interest evinced by investors in city-based IT companies. India’s top SaaS (software-as-a-service) firm, Zoho, is looking to hire around 1,300 employees for its new office under construction in Kappalur. Experts say if a market leader like Zoho is ready to invest in the Madurai region, it shows the potential of the city. Members of Software Industries Development Association (SIDA), a cluster of 55 IT and ITeS industries in Madurai, said big companies are acquiring Madurai-based companies as they are performing well. Recently, Happiest Minds Technologies acquired Sri Mookambika Infosolutions for Rs 111 crore. Teeyes Siva, president of SIDA, said, IT companies in the city have to group under a single umbrella to show the city’s potential to the state. “In Madurai, we have IT companies in all domains,” he said.

Demystifying Infosec Compliance By Mr. Suraj Ramesh 28.02.2023

We are excited to share that our recent event on “Demystifying InfoSec Compliance” held on 28th February, 2023, at the Courtyard by Marriott in Madurai was a grand success! Our keynote speaker, Mr. Suraj Ramesh, Associate Director of Sales at Sprinto, provided valuable insights into the need for information security and the different InfoSec compliance available, including standards like IS27001, SOC2, laws like HIPA, GPDR, etc.

Mr. Ramesh also shared real-world examples of the practical difficulties organizations may face when going for one of these standards and the steps to overcome them while keeping the organization’s core focus in mind. He also provided an overview of how the Sprinto tool can be used to speed up the compliance process.

” Happy Employee and Happy Employer ” was a great event hosted by SIDA on 30th November 2022 by Mr. Prakash Raman, who captivated the audience with his informative yet interactive session.

His valuable inputs in Talent Acquisition, Development, and Retention techniques were an eye-opener for many and gave an orientation for companies in setting up their HR practices.

The Q&A session, too, was beneficial, covering a wide range of topics, including moonlighting, best practices, company branding, etc.

As the first event in the SIDA SPEAKS series, RAISE n SCALE – “ Modern Fundraising Strategies for IT Companies“ successfully happened on 09-SEP-2022 at Courtyard by Marriot, Madurai, around 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, followed by dinner.

The event started with Tamil Thai Valthu and a welcome address by the President (Teeyes Siva). Following that, he introduced the new EC Team.

The speaker Samarth Shah, a seasoned investment banker with rich experience in the Debt and Equity side of funding, came from Mumbai to Madurai exclusively for this event.

He presented in detail about 

1.     Seed/Angel, Venture Capital, Private Equity 

2.     how to prepare the organisation for each level 

3.     timeline for each stage.  

4.     Need to-dos and don’ts 

5.     How one can uniquely position in the market and create a perfectly tailored business growth.

Followed by him, Mr Senthil Nathan R [Regional Head -TN, ICICI Securities Ltd] speaks a clear idea about debt funding.
